Dennis Spurgin, a 30-year Rotarian and current member of Sunup Rotary, was our program.  Dennis' passion is the Peanut Butter Project.  He first became interested in Rotary in 1965 when he was in a leadership role in high school.  Doctors without Borders was his first introduction to international service.  The PB Project intrigues him most because of its sustainability. He shared a video of the program as it exists in Sierra Leone.  Because of this project thousands of children in the Sierra Leone area have been saved from malnutrition.  The program creates a positive economical cycle as it save lives, employees numerous people who in turn help the economy and continue the cycle. Dennis has supported 5 Global Grants for this project.  He is currently supporting Grant 1988000 for $175,000 for expansion of this project.  The audience asked some excellent questions and Dennis was able to provide excellent responses.
Andy Brakebill, Youth Services Director, presents Dennis a $500 check for the PB Project from our Interact Club
